As expected following initial reports on Sunday night, Portsmouth have terminated the contract of manager Tony Adams.
The rookie boss had largely struggled in the hot-seat since succeeding Harry Redknapp in October of last year, stepping up from his role as assistant. At that point Pompey were hovering around the European places, but they now languish close to the Premier League drop-zone.
First-team coach Jonny Metgod has also departed, despite being tipped to be interim boss. Such duties will fall to Paul Hart, the director of youth operations.
Portsmouth's executive chairman Peter Storrie had clearly seen enough after Adams' side surrendered the lead twice against Liverpool at Fratton Park this weekend past, with the Reds running out 3-2 winners following a grandstand finish.
Adams is a legendary Arsenal and England defender but, although he showed flashes of promise, perhaps the top-flight job was too much for him at this stage.
Now his back home with is family,i hope he will get a new job soon.
